For a number of years, we, Betty Tapella and Dana Studebaker, owned and operated a successful boutique gift shop in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. As retail operators and buyers, we noticed that there was a void in room décor and gift items for young girls.

In 2007, as a test, we produced by hand a batch of inspirational crosses and sold them directly through our own boutique gift shop. Initial sales were brisk and, at the urging of regional Market sales representatives, we displayed our crosses and other early inspirational items at the Dallas Gift Market. As orders came in and sales continued to heighten, we decided to source and export our production overseas to China. This move greatly increased our production capabilities and gained cost efficiencies for our company, our retailers, and, ultimately, our consumer purchasers. The greater production capabilities also allowed us to greatly expand our product lineup.

To complement our traditional wall units, we added picture frames, stationary, and other items to our product offering and, in 2009, we further expanded by adding “affinity”/sports items. These items were designed so that young girls and teens could display and highlight on their walls their unique, individual lifestyle and personal affinity passions such as soccer, volleyball, cheer, dance, etc…

And, most recently, we announced the launch of our newest product line: “college sorority” items. This new line of sorority products is officially licensed with each sorority. We are excited about this new merchandise and we believe it is sure to be a big hit across college campuses and girls’ rooms throughout the United States.

Today, through appealing, eye-catching, contemporary designs and ever expanding and evolving gift items, Dana’s Designs offers over 100 SKU’s for room décor and gift items primarily for girls age 5 to 22. Our items can be seen in the Dallas and Atlanta Gift Markets, can be ordered online, and/or can be purchased in boutique gift stores in over 20 states from coast to coast.
